about

This painting depicts the rock hole site Marrapinta, west of Kiwirkuura in Western Australia. This is the place where a number of older women come together to perform certain ceremonies and pass them on to their successors. During their stay they collect edible berries 'kampurarrpa' and grind them into food. The women come to this special place from different directions. What exactly happens during these ceremonies is secret.
