This painting depicts designs associated with the rock hole site of “Marrawa” and the surrounding intermittent swamp, to the west of Lake MacKay (Wilkinkarra) approximately 120km north north-east Kiwirrkura. Walimpirrnga was part of a family group of eighteen individuals whose first contact with white Australia accused in October 1984.
Please note that all Aboriginal Art is created from a so called ‘Birds Eye’ view. This means that the paintings can be hung either horizontally as well as vertically.
